In Canada, as in most other OECD countries, there is broad legislation to guard against a range of ‎‎“foreign corrupt practices” such as bribery and generally enriching public officials. ‎
Part of the background of this is that the OECD convention on Anti-Bribery came into effect on 1999.  ‎Countries have been implementing and amending their corresponding legislation since then.  ‎
